Upgrading Old Roller Blinds – Any Good Motor Kits?
Hi everyone, I have quite old roller blinds in the living room and bedroom. They still work manually but I’m really tired of pulling cords every morning. I want to make them motorized without buying completely new shades. Has anyone tried any retrofit kits recently? Looking for something simple, not too expensive, that can connect to smart home. Would love to control them with phone or voice. Any recommendations or warnings? Thanks!

Hey, I did exactly that last month. I went with the Revolve Smart Roller Shade Retrofit Kit from Progressive Automations. Installation took me about 15 minutes per shade – seriously easy. Comes with motor, brackets, small solar panel, remote and adapters for different tube sizes. https://www.progressiveautomations.com/en-eu/collections/retrofit has all the actuator retrofit projects stuff including this kit. It’s Matter compatible so it works with Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home right away. I mostly use voice commands now and sometimes the app when I’m not home. Solar panel keeps it charged so I almost never think about batteries.
